Jim Misko was born in Nebraska, then moved to Oregon and Alaska, completing what for him was a natural bridge to the frontier. He has worked as an oil field roughneck, a logger, a truck driver, a saw mill hand, teacher, journalist, real estate broker, and author. With numerous published articles and seven books to his credit he works at being the best author of fiction he can become.
What the Judges had to say
Misko writes from the heart, more importantly his words speak to the heart
The author takes us back to 1957 America describing it through the eyes of a young schoolteacher who believes in educating the next generation to look beyond the logging hamlet of their Oregon town. The prose grips you from start to finish and stirs emotion with every page turn.
What a fun read. An unexpected surprise from a new author.
